By day, Jaclyn Dehner (pictured at left) is a counselor at Findley Elementary School. By night, she helps adult learners prepare for the High School Equivalency Test. We sat in on a recent HiSET class at Findley to see how Des Moines Public Schools, working with our partners at DMACC and the I Have a Dream Foundation, is helping to educate entire families. DMPS is a national leader among school districts for energy efficiency. That’s why the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency picked DMPS along with four other Energy Star partners (JCPenney, Beacon Capital, Nissan and Staple) to highlight the five reasons to get Energy Star certification for buildings. Over the years DMPS has taken many steps to better ensure the safety and well being of our students, staff, parents and visitors.
