There’s an exciting art collaboration happening between the Des Moines Art Center, Brooklyn-based artist Dave Eppley and students and staff at Findley Elementary School. The district dropped in on an after-school professional development session and found all of the Findley teachers getting involved with the project that’s slated for unveiling on November 5th. Brooklyn-based artist Dave Eppley has 120 assistants for a new installation he’s preparing for the Des Moines Art Center. Click the photo to read how students here at Findley Elementary School are contributing their talents to a new work that will be unveiled at the art museum later this Fall.

Yesterday, our playground was taken over by a herd of Jamarisaurus Rex! Their pack leader, Jamari aspires to be a Paleontologist when he grows up so that he can share his love of learning about dinosaurs and their history with the world. As always, #dreambig!

Cy, from Iowa State, visited morning meeting today (8/29)! He learned the Findley cheer, helped with the college cheer, picked up some breakfast, and gave out many high fives and hugs!

Our scholars wasted no time getting back into the swing of learning! In fact, one might think that summer never happened with how quickly students got to work! Students spent the first three days of school collaboratively deepening their understanding of school expectations and academic content.
