Incoming Kindergartners – Welcome to Findley!

Kindergarten students attended our Jumpstart program August 7 and 8 from 8:30 – 11:30. They spent time eating breakfast in the cafeteria, meeting classmates and teachers, learning about reading, playing at recess, and getting familiar with the school!

The school bell times at Findley will change with the beginning of the 2018-19 school year. Our new start time is 7:30 AM and we will dismiss at 2:25 PM, with a 75 minute early dismissal on Wednesdays. Beginning in August, all schools at DMPS will have new hours. The new hours at our school will be 7:30 AM to 2:25 PM. The change is being made to better serve the educational needs of students, based on research into the sleep patterns of children and teenagers. Click the headline for more information.

The work of world famous artists line the walls of the Des Moines Art Center. Now add Findley Elementary School to the list. Specifically, nearly 130 3rd and 5th graders who helped Brooklyn-based artist Dave Eppley create a new installation. Click on the headline to read more!

There’s an exciting art collaboration happening between the Des Moines Art Center, Brooklyn-based artist Dave Eppley and students and staff at Findley Elementary School. The district dropped in on an after-school professional development session and found all of the Findley teachers getting involved with the project that’s slated for unveiling on November 5th.
