Fifth House Ensemble visits Findley

Third Graders were in for a great afternoon when their Art Teacher, Lisa Hesse and Music Teacher, Jane Olson surprised them with visiting artists, Fifth House Ensemble – an musical group based out of Chicago.  The group worked with all of third grade to explore how music can help bring stories and writing to life! At one point, students became artists by drawing a character based on the sound they were hearing from specific instruments. Students even participated in a “Choose Your Own Adventure” story in which they listened to music and collaborated on what the story would be based on the sounds, pitches, instruments and volumes they were hearing.  At the end, they also had a chance to ask lots of questions in which they learned the specifics about different instruments and how long the musicians had been playing.  To view pictures from this fun after noon, click here.
