WHAT ARE FEARLESS FRIDAYS?
At Findley Elementary, we are Dreaming Big and working to reimagine education. Part of our work to reimagine education is Fearless Fridays.
Fearless Fridays is Findley’s answer to ensuring our students have access to activities during the school day. We recognize that access to activities that expand student experiences and learning, and connect to student interests should not be limited to those who are able to attend after school programming.
In addition to providing opportunities for our students, Fearless Fridays allows our staff extended collaboration time during the day while students are engaged in activities.
Lastly, at Findley we believe in the opportunity a 4-day learning week holds for our community. Fearless Fridays is a step towards a 4-day learning week.

We are looking for community partners to join us in providing opportunities for our students in the 2024-2025 school year and beyond. To the right, you will find our Fearless Friday schedule and a list of some of the activities our students are interested in.

HOW DO FEARLESS FRIDAYS WORK?
Fearless Fridays are scheduled into 4 quarters of the school year. Each quarter, students will take part in three different activities on set dates at set times. Students have choice in the activities they take part in.

Fashion, Gardening, Animals, Gymnastics, Orchestra, Soccer, Basketball, Leadership, Cooking, Babysitting, Board Games, Legos, Anime, Architecture, Band, Basketball, Battle of the Books, Guitar, Drama, Pottery Wheel, Yoga, Coding, Computers, Bookmaking, Dance, and so much more.

FEARLESS FRIDAY FAQs

• Are students in mixed grade-levels/age-levels for activities? Yes, we subscribe to the Montessori model of multi-age opportunities for students. 4th-6th grade students will be in activities together while K-3rd grade students will be in activities together.
• If I partner to provide an activity, how many sessions am I committing to? The number of sessions of an activity that a partner provides is generally based upon the provider’s availability and student demand or interest in the activity. With that said, we do need a commitment from the partner to provide an activity for the duration of a quarter at the agreed upon times. A couple of examples are below.

• Do students stay in the same activity for multiple quarters? Typically no. Students will select their next activity prior to the start of the next quarter. Some students may choose to engage in the same club the next quarter. Some partners may choose to make their activity span two quarters or more to allow for a more robust student experience. 
• As a partner, if I have an activity that requires more dates than are in the quarter, can I extend into another quarter. Yes. We have had partners do this which allows for students to go more in depth or experience more. All that would be required is that the partner make this known to students, maintain the same time slot, and commit to the entirety of each quarter. 
• What if I am interested in providing an activity that is not on the current list? We are happy to discuss any activities that might benefit to our students. Please reach out to ryan.pirtle@dmschools.org
