Gloria Huyser

Interventionist

Biography

I began teaching at Findley Elementary in 2004, when I started teaching 5th grade.  I had been teaching middle school for 12 years before that, and I was looking for an opportunity to teach in an elementary school.  I have worked with 5th, 4th, 3rd, and now 2nd grade students! The community at Findley warmed my heart immediately; we have such an awesome staff and wonderful families whom I have had the privilege to teach over the  years.  I am proud to say that I am a parent of a Findley student (now at Harding), and I have been active in our Findley Elementary PTO, where I serve as President.  I LOVE being a part of great things at Findley!! My husband and I love to watch lots of sporting events, and we all love to watch good, funny movies on the weekend with our son and our pets.

Biography

I was born and raised in Boone, Iowa. I graduated from Boone High in 2007 with hopes of becoming an elementary teacher. I graduated from Iowa State University in May of 2011 with my education degree with an emphasis on both math and reading. At Iowa State I also continued my passion for music and was one of the 72 trumpets in the Iowa State Marching Band for all 4 years of my college career. At Iowa State I also had the opportunity of studying abroad in Australia in the summer of 2009 and Austria in 2010. They were both experiences of a life time! In October of 2011 I received my first teaching job at Stratford Elementary in Stratford, Iowa as a teacher associate in the 3rd/4th grade classroom. Later that year, my position was no longer available within the district and I received my Title 1 teaching position at Findley Elementary in Des Moines, Iowa in January of 2012. I’ve enjoyed my journey so far in the teaching world and can’t wait to experience new and exciting things each year with the staff and students that I am privileged to work with!
