Biography

I have worked for Des Moines Public Schools since graduation from Drake University in 2007. I came to Findley Elementary that fall as a special education teacher. I achieved my Masters in Special Education in 2009.In 2012, I started teaching 4thgrade. On a personal note I’m married and have one daughter and one son. I have lived in 8 states; Iowa, Colorado, Vermont, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Idaho, Washington, and California. I have experienced all kinds of schools and teachers in my academic journey. From those experiences and a family that values education, I developed a passion to make sure children have a positive, trusting, motivating and personal educational experience.

Jessica Manning

Biography

I’m thrilled to be teaching my second year at Findley Elementary! I have an English degree from the University of Minnesota Morris, and received my Elementary Education Degree from Upper Iowa University.
My classroom motto is “Teamwork Makes Dream Work.” I strongly believe that we all achieve our best results working in a collaborative learning environment, and I do everything I can to promote it. I teach the importance of respectful behavior in my classroom, and do my best to encourage students to achieve their potential. I love the atmosphere around Findley, and am looking forward to a great year!

Schelsy Smith

Biography

I am a 4th grade teacher at Findley Elementary where I was previously a 5th grade teacher. I am very excited about the new position. I attended Grandview College and recieved a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Reading. I have taught at Findley since 2006 and love the extended family that the community has provided. I love swimming, reading and hanging outdoors. I love spending time with family which includes my husband Abraham, my daughter Chloe and son Isaac.
