4th Grade Gives Thanks

On May 6th, six fourth graders attended the DMPS School Board meeting to present artwork to Superintendent Tom Ahart and the School Board as a formal thank you for all their support of the arts in education as well as their continued support in our journey as a Turnaround: Arts school.  During the fourth grade field trip to the Art Center, four more students presented artwork. All 4th graders created large collaborative pieces this past fall in Ms. Jorgensen’s art room that focused around the science of trees and the art of team work and cooperation.  Students ended up with 15 pieces of work that are making a large impact on Des Moines.  When tasked with who gets the work, students decided to gift each piece to people or groups that have made an impact on our education.  So far, work has been formally dedicated to the Des Moines Art Center, John Deer Financial, Tom Ahart, the School Board, and the DMPS Foundation.  There are various more announcements to come.
